Phone Clover is a HighLevel Marketplace app that puts Telnyx phone numbers to work inside HighLevel: calling, texting, number health and compliance. This page covers the one-time install, done once by an admin, before anyone on the team opens the Phone page.
Before you start
- Who can do this: an agency owner or a sub-account admin. Reps never see this step.
- What you need: access to the HighLevel account you want to install into, and a Telnyx account with the numbers you plan to use (or you can buy numbers after install; see Set up your first number).
- Where it happens: the HighLevel Marketplace listing for Phone Clover.
Step by step
- Open the listing. From the HighLevel Marketplace, find Phone Clover and click Install.
- Authorize the connection. HighLevel redirects you to an authorization screen. Approve the permissions Phone Clover asks for. This is standard OAuth: HighLevel issues a token, Phone Clover stores it encrypted, and no password ever passes through Phone Clover itself.
- Choose the install level. If you install at the agency level, Phone Clover receives an agency-wide token and can mint access for each sub-account as needed, without a separate install per sub-account. If you install at the sub-account level, only that sub-account is connected.
- Done. HighLevel redirects you back once the connection is confirmed. There is no separate Phone Clover login screen to set up.
Note: the install screen you see is HighLevel’s own authorization page, not a Phone Clover page. If it looks different from what you expected, you are still in the right place.
Signing in after install
Once installed, reps and admins do not get a separate username and password for Phone Clover. HighLevel embeds the Phone Clover interface inside your account and passes along who is signed in. Phone Clover reads that and signs the person in automatically, every time they open the Phone page or the floating call widget. There is nothing for a rep to set up here.
Each sign-in session lasts several hours before HighLevel refreshes it automatically. You will not notice this happening during normal use.
What happens right after install
With the app installed but no numbers connected yet, the Phone page will prompt you to add a number. You have two ways to do that:
- Bring a Telnyx number you already have. See Set up your first number.
- Buy a new number, including numbers outside the US. See Buy an international number.
If you want to keep texting on a landline or VoIP number you already use for calls, look at Text from your existing business number without porting instead of buying a new number.
Checking the connection later
Settings → Overview shows a Phone health card with a row for the HighLevel connection itself, alongside Telnyx voice, Telnyx messaging, texting registration and emergency address. If that row ever shows a problem, the install token may have been revoked or expired; reinstalling from the Marketplace listing reconnects it. See What the settings health badges mean for how to read every row on that card.
Troubleshooting
Install redirected back but nothing loaded. Refresh the page. If it still does not load, try the install again from the Marketplace listing; a partial or interrupted authorization is the most common cause.
A rep can’t see the Phone page after install. Confirm they have a HighLevel user account in the sub-account Phone Clover was installed to. Phone Clover reads sign-in identity from HighLevel; it does not maintain a separate user list.
Agency-level install, but one sub-account isn’t connected. Each sub-account still needs to be opened inside HighLevel at least once for Phone Clover to request its own access token. Opening the Phone page for that sub-account triggers this automatically.
Reinstalling after uninstalling. Uninstalling and reinstalling is safe. Your Telnyx numbers, settings and call history are tied to your HighLevel sub-account, not to the install event itself, so reinstalling reconnects the same data.
